King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark are hosting Icelandic President Halla Tómasdóttir and Björn Skúlason on their State Visit to Denmark this week, which is the first State Visit of the Reign of King Frederik X. The State Visit focuses on strengthening Danish-Icelandic cooperation, the broad sustainability agenda, and technological solutions with the digital and green transition.
King Frederik X and Queen Mary received President Halla Tómasdóttir and Björn Skúlason at Nordre Toldbod in Copenhagen, before a carriage procession to the wreath-laying ceremony at the Monument in Kastellet, which was followed by a procession to Christian VII’s Palace at Amalienborg, where Queen Margrethe II also paid a visit.
The King and Queen joined the Icelandic President and First Gentleman for a visit to Jónshús, an Icelandic cultural center in Copenhagen, and also to the Arnamagnæanske Samling at the University of Copenhagen.
In the evening, Princess Benedikte joined King Frederik X and Queen Mary as they hosted a State Banquet in honour of President Halla Tómasdóttir (wearing the Order of the Elephant) and Björn Skúlason at Christiansborg Palace. Both the King and President gave speeches.
King Frederik X was in the Icelandic Order of the Falcon Queen Mary wore the Pearl Poiré Tiara with Earrings and Diamond Rivière of the Antique Diamond Parure, the ‘Ordensportrættet’ of King Frederik X and the Icelandic Order of the Falcon.
Princess Benedikte wore the Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg Fringe Tiara with Queen Victoria of Sweden’s Diamond Stars and the Icelandic Order of the Falcon.
