‘I was a royal press secretary – Prince Harry has changed from the man I once knew’ | Royal | News

A former royal press secretary has revealed that Prince Harry has “changed” since she worked with him.

Ailsa Anderson, Queen Elizabeth II’s former press secretary, said she was “surprised” at Harry leaving the Royal Family saying he was once a “media darling”.

Speaking to Times Radio, Ms Anderson explained that Harry’s military service and founding of the Invictus Games had made him a favourite with the nation.

She said: “The Harry that I knew and I left and obviously that was before he got married so 2013, but he was the media’s darling.

“I remember at the start he could not put a foot wrong, he was just this war hero, he’d served, he was committed, he had the Invictus Games.

“He really couldn’t put a step wrong.”

She explained that she had enjoyed working with Harry during her time at the Palace and she was “saddened” at how things went when Harry left the Royal Family.

Ms Anderson added: “In private I just found him charming, funny and interesting, so yeah I am surprised and saddened actually.

“You will remember all three of them together doing stuff like Heads Together for Mental Health and it just felt like a really amazing team.

“They were very joined up and offering support to each other. So when that doesn’t happen suddenly, it’s what happens in any family not just the royal family, it’s a loss isn’t it? It’s a bereavement.”

Harry and Meghan left the royal family in January 2020 frustrated that Buckingham Palace stopped them from developing their ‘Sussex Royal’ brand and upset at media coverage.

Since moving to America, the pair have launched themselves into a number of business pursuits, with the latest being Meghan’s American Riviera Orchard lifestyle brand.
