Princess Leonor of Spain, the heiress presumptive to the Spanish throne, has paid tribute to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in a recent outing shortly after celebrating her 18th birthday.

People Magazine is reporting that the white suit favored by Madame Duchess — often the subject of backlash due to its tendency to “buck royal protocol” — was worn by the Princess on Tuesday (October 31) as she swore allegiance to the Spanish constitution.

This swearing of allegiance marks one step closer to Leonor’s ascension to the throne.

But with Leonor’s fashion choice — which takes cues from Meghan Markle — fashionistas are pointing to the white suit as the “new princess uniform.”

Meghan Markle often gets criticized for wearing pants, with many royal watcher claiming that doing so isn’t very “royal.”

But Princess Leonor wore the same pants favored by the former Suits actress, paying tribute to Madam Duchess in the process, and sending the clear message that tired old royal “traditions” are no longer being embraced by modern princesses.

Indeed, Meghan Markle sported a white pantsuit at the Archewell Foundation Parents’ Summit: Mental Wellness in the Digital Age panel in New York City, where she wore an off-the-shoulder ivory blazer and matching pants by Altuzarra.

The Duchess of Sussex also sported a similar white pants suit — made by Valentino — at the Invictus Games.

Outside of Britain, Meghan Markle is hailed as a fashion forward princess for the modern age.

And it’s clear that other members of other royal families — such as Princess Leonor — have taken a cue from the American princess.

Despite this acceptance from other royal families, the British Royal family still seems resistant to changing their protocols.

It remains to be seen, however, if time softens their stance.
