Prince Harry’s close friend Nacho Figueras has given further insight into the pair’s new Netflix show, which goes behind the scenes of polo.
Speaking to PEOPLE at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic on Saturday, Nacho spoke of POLO – which is released in December.
He said: “Look, to me, it’s an honor to do anything with him. He’s a dear friend. This is more his project than it is mine. It’s an honor to know that I was able to help.
“And the show is not about me. It’s not about him … So we’ve been working very hard on it and we’re very excited about the outcome.”
On September 9, Netflix announced the Duke of Sussex’s new polo documentary series, which he is producing under his company Archewell Productions.
The streaming service shared that the show “follows elite global players and offers an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the fast-paced world of the sport”. On October 5, Nacho also shared his best memory of filming the documentary with the publication.
He said: “Look, everything about it. I would love for it to be a kind of, like a surprise. But what I can tell you is that as a polo player, I think this is something that I’ve been waiting for my entire life.”
Prince Harry’s pal further explained: “You know, the behind-the-scenes, kind of like what Drive to Survive did for Formula 1. I’m really looking forward to seeing what happens… Hopefully, this will be the beginning of a, hopefully, longer series that will expose our sport to millions of people.”
Nacho’s comments come just weeks after he took to social media to wish Harry a happy 40th birthday. He wrote: “Happy 40th brother. From the polo fields to all the moments in between, I’m grateful for the bond we share. Here’s to many more laughs, memories, and good times ahead. Love you.”
