The Greek Royal Family stayed with the Hanoverian, Norwegian and Danish Royal Families as they went on a Road Trip through Europe on this day in 1959, 65 years ago.
King Paul and Queen Frederica of Greece were joined by Crown Prince Constantine, Princess Sofia, Princess Irene on the road trip, stopping first in Germany, where they stayed with Queen Frederica’s family, Prince Ernst August and Princess Ortrud of Hanover along with Prince Welf Heinrich, Prince Ernst August, and Prince Ludwig Rudolf of Hanover, at Marienburg Castle in Hanover.
The Greek Royal Family also stayed with the Danish Royal Family at Fredensborg Palace, when Crown Prince Constantine met Princess Anne Marie of Denmark for the first time, though no images were made public (these are from when the Engagement was announced in 1963).
The Greek Royal Family then went to stay with King Olav V, Crown Prince Harald, Princess Astrid, and Princess Ragnhild of Norway at Skaugum, the Norwegian Royal Family’s personal residence.
