Grand Duke Henri thanks Luxembourg’s athletes as their Olympics comes to an end

Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg has been a dedicated supporter of the Luxembourgish athletes at the 2024 Summer Olympics and he has shared a congratulatory post on Instagram celebrating their achievements.

Luxembourg sent thirteen athletes to Paris for the Games across seven sports: archery, athletics, cycling, equestrian, swimming, table tennis, and triathlon.

Although none of the thirteen athletes won a medal, Grand Duke Henri nevertheless enjoyed his time at the Paris Olympics.

The Grand Duke’s feelings about their achievements were shared on Instagram, with the official account noting ”With Vera Hoffman’s last race, Luxembourg athletes conclude their Olympic participation with satisfaction. HRH the Grand Duke was a keen supporter throughout the competitions. He salutes our sportsmen and women as well as their management for their commitment and thanks them for the beautiful emotions shared with an entire people. THANKS !”

The Grand Duke is one of the only European royals who has remained at the Olympic Games throughout, as many have come and gone to do engagements elsewhere.

Grand Duke Henri is a member of the International Olympic Committee; he first joined the IOC in 1998. He is also a member on the board of Luxembourg National Olympic Committee.
