The Queen met President Obama for the first time and rebuked the Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi as she hosted a Reception for World Leaders at Buckingham Palace on this day in 2009, 15 years ago, during the G20 London Summit.
Ahead of the Reception, Queen met President and Mrs Obama for the first time in her Drawing Room at Buckingham Palace.
After receiving the world leaders, the Queen posed with them for a traditional group photograph in the Palace Throne Room.
The leaders attended a reception at Buckingham Palace hosted by Elizabeth II. During a photograph she lightly rebuked the Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi for shouting too loudly in an effort to attract the attention of United States President Barack Obama.The story was featured heavily in the Italian media, and was used by opponents to lambast Berlusconi. After the palace reception, the leaders dined at 10 Downing Street where the food was cooked by Jamie Oliver.
The then Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall also attended the Reception.
The Queen wore her Williamson Pink Diamond Brooch with her Three-Strand Pearl Necklace.
