King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark, as well as Prince Joachim and Princess Marie, attended the Funeral of former Royal Court Chief Per Thornit at the Holmens Kirke in Copenhagen on August 8th. Per Thornit served in the Danish Royal Household for 25 years.

Per Thornit passed away on July 30th, at the age of 82. He began his career in the Royal Court in 1985, and after five years as office manager in the Queen’s cabinet secretariat, he was appointed in 1990 as the chief of staff for Crown Prince Frederik and Prince Joachim. In 2004, he became the Court Chief for the then Crown Prince Couple, serving until his retirement in 2010.
After retirement and until the recent change in the throne earlier this year, he served as the master of orders in the royal household. Thornit leaves behind a lasting memory within the royal family and among the royal personalities he guided throughout the years.
