Everyone is saying the same thing as Queen Camilla announces week-long break from duties | Royal | News

Royal Family fans have expressed their support for Queen Camilla after it was announced that she will be taking a break from royal engagements this week – and everyone is saying the same thing.

The Queen has been holding the fort for the Firm ever since the news broke that King Charles had been diagnosed with cancer and consequently would be retiring from public duties for the time being.

After holding the fort for the past few weeks, Queen Camilla has no duties scheduled for this week but will be back at work on March 11 for the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey.

One social media account shared their sympathy, saying: “Makes sense actually. Camilla is 76 years old. Not sure my gran could keep the pace she’s been keeping & gran is fit. Best to take a few days off and come back to more public duties when she can.”

Another said: “It’ll be nice for the Queen to have a feet up moment and be with her husband the King for a while.”

Some claimed there was no need for Buckingham Palace to announce the news, however one commentator pointed out online: “Totally deserved and anyone criticising her for making the announcement after trolls have gone after Catherine, shame on you. Camilla is just being thoughtful of the public and assuring them there is nothing to worry about.”

Both Princess Kate and King Charles have been off public duties this year for ill health, after the Princess underwent planned abdominal surgery in January.

Kensington Palace confirmed the operation had been a success, but said Kate would be recuperating at home in Windsor until Easter at the earliest.

A royal source told The Times: “Although she was not expecting to find herself in the position of leading the family, the Queen is absolutely prepared to do whatever needs to be done for the institution.

“She has been buoyed by the public’s reaction. She has found reserves of energy that even she didn’t think she had, and the estimation of her by those inside the Palace has soared as she has put her shoulder to the wheel.”

Another source close to the Queen said: “Her Majesty is robust, positive and determined to keep going while the King is off public duties. The King is proud and pleased to see the show is being kept on the road by the Queen and the wider family.”
