European royals have busy spring ahead with state visits – Royal Central

A handful of state visits are coming up in April, with the Grand Ducal Court in Luxembourg announcing on Monday that the Grand Duke Couple will undertake a state visit to Belgium next month.

Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa will officially visit Belgium from 16-18 April at the invitation of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde.

The Grand Ducal Court shared that “During this State Visit, the Royal Couple and the Grand Ducal Couple will have the pleasure of visiting different projects and companies in three Belgian cities: Brussels, Ghent and Liège.”

Further details about the Luxembourg State Visit to Belgium will be released closer to the date, but it’s not the only state visit scheduled that week: King Felipe and Queen Letizia will undertake their own state visit to the Netherlands between 17-18 April.

According to the Dutch Royal Court, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima have invited their Spanish counterparts to visit, though details are also sparse about their engagements.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima had been due to undertake a State Visit to Vietnam between 19-22 March, but at the eleventh hour it was cancelled at the request of the Vietnamese government.

The Dutch Royal Court shared that “the Vietnamese authorities have requested that the state visit of His Majesty the King and Her Majesty Queen Máxima to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam be postponed due to domestic circumstances,” but did not offer a new set of dates for the state visit.

But while King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima will not be visiting Vietnam, the economic missions dedicated to agrifood and horticulture, and water and logistics, will still take place as planned, overseen by the government ministers who were due to accompany the royals.

Later in the year, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima will undertake a working visit to the United States, visiting Georgia and New York between 10-13 June.

Elsewhere in Europe, King Frederik and Queen Mary will undertake their first official state visits in May; first to Sweden between 6-7 May, then to Norway between 14-15 May. Later in the summer, they will pay their first official visits to Greenland and the Faroe Islands since ascending the Danish throne.
