The Swedish Royal Family hosted Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia on his State Visit to Sweden on this day in 1954, 70 years ago, during his Tour of Europe following a State Visit to the United Kingdom, to Greece, and to The Netherlands.
King Gustaf VI Adolf and Queen Louise of Sweden, along with Princess Sibylla and Prince Bertil, received Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia with members of his Family and Suite at the Royal Palace of Stockholm, following a Procession from the Train Station.
In the evening, the Swedish King and Queen hosted a State Banquet for Emperor Haile Selassie in Karl XI’s Gallery the Royal Palace of Stockholm, at which Princess Sibylla (wearing the Aquamarine Kokoshnik Tiara) was seated beside the King and Emperor.
