King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands are on a State Visit to Kenya at the invitation of President William Ruto on March 18th to March 20th, with a focus on cooperation in the field of peace, security, climate change and food security.
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima began their State Visit with an Official Welcome Ceremony hosted by President William Ruto at State House before a Delegation Meeting and a Press Conference.
King Willem-Alexander attended the signing of various cooperation agreements in the areas of tourism, trade, security, agriculture and fisheries, before King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima laid a wreath at the Monument of the Unknown Warrior and talked to young Kenyans from different backgrounds, who will share their personal experiences and ideas about the future of Kenya.
Later, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima planted a tree in a forest in Nairobi, underlining the Dutch commitment to nature conservation and cooperation with Kenya on the climate agenda, before attending a business forum which will focus on the strong economic ties between the Netherlands and Kenya.
In the evening, President William Ruto hosted a State Banquet for King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima at State House, with speeches by both the King and President.
Queen Máxima wore the Sapphire Necklace Tiara with Sapphire Earrings and a Sapphire Bow Brooch.
