Duchess Sophie is celebrating her 60th birthday today with her nearest and dearest.
The Duchess of Edinburgh, who married Prince Edward in 1999, has been a well-loved member of the family for over 25 years.
While her birthday plans have not been publicly revealed, it is believed that she will spend her big day at her Bagshot Park home in Surrey with Prince Edward. It is believed her eldest child Lady Louise may also be there for the big day, while the couple’s son James may be at boarding school.
Just days ago, the Royal Family issued a new photograph of the duchess before her milestone birthday, with many fans quick to comment on how Sophie looks great for her age.

Duchess Sophie was delighted to become a mum. She gave birth to her first child Lady Louise Windsor on November 8, 2003, who was premature. When Sophie arrived at the hospital from her Bagshot Park home on November 8, medics realised she needed an emergency caesarean as she had an acute placental abruption, a condition in which the placental lining separates from the uterus. Louise, who weighed only 4lbs 9oz, was taken from Sophie as soon as she was born and sent to St. George’s Hospital in Tooting, London, for specialised care. Sophie had to have a massive blood transfusion as she lost too much blood. Prince Edward was overseas for work at the time.
