The Duchess of Edinburgh entertained the crowds as she waved when she arrived at St George’s Chapel in Windsor for the annual Order of the Garter service. The Duchess wore a pastel pink midi-length dress by Suzannah London with full sleeves and a tie waist.

The dress has a narrow, elongated v-neckline and is a 1940s inspired dress. Sophie, 60, also opted for a wide-brimmed pretty pastel pink hat with nude-coloured shoes to match, and wore her blonde tresses swept up in an elegant updo. The royal held onto a pink-toned clutch bag as she chatted to Princess Kate outside the chapel entrance.

Princess Kate has made a huge return to King Charles’s annual Garter Day event after missing last year’s event due to her cancer treatment.

The Princess of Wales wore a recycled white Self Portrait dress and hat by Sean Barrett, and she watched the procession alongside Sophie, as neither are members of the ancient order.

The day sees royals and others donning the grand velvet robes and plumed hats for a procession from St George’s Chapel in the grounds of Windsor Castle for a private service before they return in horse-drawn carriages.

Fans have rushed to comment on Sophie and Kate looking fabulous in the spring sunshine for the event. One wrote on X: “Beautiful ladies! These two look smashing!”

Another fan added: “It’s Order of the Garder Day and PRINCESS CATHERINE IS GORGEOUS. DUCHESS SOPHIE IS SO BEAUTIFUL.”

One commented: “Catherine, Princess of Wales and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh look beautiful.”

There are currently 10 members of the Royal Family who have become Royal Knights and Royal Ladies within the Order.

King Charles was made a Royal Knight Companion of the Order of the Garter in 1958, when he became the Prince of Wales. Since Queen Elizabeth’s death in 2022, he became the Sovereign of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

The Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Edinburgh, however, are not in the ancient Order but watch the service and procession from St George’s Chapel, before taking part in a carriage procession around the castle grounds.
