Queen Margrethe II joined King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark as they hosted a Dinner on the Anniversary of the Establishment of the Holmens Hæderstegns Indstiftelse (Holmen’s Order of Honour) at Frederik VIII’s Palace at Amalienborg on the evening of January 29th.

King Frederik X and Queen Mary hosted the Gala Dinner for on the occasion of the anniversary of the establishment of Holmens Hæderstegns Indstiftelse (Holmen’s Order of Honour).

The Royal Couple held a reception on the occasion of the anniversary of the Holmen Order of Honour at Frederik VIII’s Palace at Amalienborg on 29 January 2025, where HM Queen Margrethe also attended. The history behind the Holmen Order of Honour dates back to 29 January 1801, when Christian VII instituted the decoration on his birthday.

The Holmens Hæderstegns Indstiftelse (Holmen’s Order of Honour) is the oldest of the military service medals. Today, those who have been employed in the Navy for 25 years can be considered for a medal of honor.

The guests invited to the dinner at Amalienborg Palace this evening were officers of the rank of admiral and commander from the Royal Navy. Representatives from the Royal Court also participated in the evening’s dinner.

Honorary dinners are held annually, alternating between the Army, the Navy, the Danish Armed Forces, the Air Force and the Emergency Management Agency.
