King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark , Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden, and Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway will join the Presidents and First Ladies of Iceland, Finland and Germany to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Nordic Embassy Complex in Berlin next month.
During the visit, the Danish Royal Couple also participates together with the Swedish Royal House, the Norwegian Royal House, the President of Finland, HE Cai-Göran Alexander Stubb and the President of Iceland, HE Halla Tómasdóttir, as well as the Federal President of Germany in a joint Nordic celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Nordic embassy complex in the German capital.
The first day of the visit in Berlin is rounded off with an official dinner in the evening at Schloss Bellevue hosted by the Presidential couple.
The Nordic Embassy Complex in Berlin was opened by the Kings and Queens of Denmark, Norway and Sweden alongside the Presidents and First Ladies of Iceland, Finland and Germany in October 1999.
The Official Visit to Germany by King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark comes after their State Visit to Sweden, State Visit to Norway, an extensive Tour of Greenland,and a Summer Tour of Danish Municipalities on the Royal Yacht Dannebrog.
In continuation of the early summer’s state visit to Sweden and Norway, the Royal Couple will continue their journey to Denmark’s neighboring countries until October. On the 21st-22nd October, the King and Queen thus travel on an accession visit to the German capital Berlin and to the Danish minority in Schleswig-Holstein. Denmark and Germany are closely linked through strong cooperation across the border, both when it comes to trade, green transition and security policy.
On 21 October, the Royal Couple will be received in Berlin by the Federal President of Germany, HE Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Fr. Elke Büdenbender. Afterwards, the royal couple visit the Reichstag building, which houses the German Bundestag (Deutscher Bundestag). Your Majesties are received here by the President of the Bundestag, HE Bärbel Bas.
On 22 October, the Royal Couple will visit Schleswig-Holstein and the Danish minority. The visit emphasizes the strong bond with the Danish-minded and supports concrete collaborations across the border, especially related to the green transition. There will be visits to both Kiel and Flensburg, the opening of an energy conference and a visit to Dannevirke. The royal couple’s visit ends with an event at the Danish minority in Flensburghus.
