Crown Princess Victoria shared a new video of her young family taking part in a beloved holiday tradition: lighting candles.
In a new video posted on the Swedish Royal Family’s YouTube channel, the future queen of Sweden, accompanied by husband Prince Daniel and children Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar, visits the Älvrosgården in Skansen to learn about the tradition of lighting candles at the holiday season.
In the short video, the Crown Princess Family learns how to make their own candles. As they learn the process, they joke around with each other about their candles.
Princess Estelle is heard saying that the candles smell really good, “like honey.” Prince Oscar, meanwhile, holds a long wick and says that his candle is “going to be the longest candle I’ve ever seen.”
In the background, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel joke around about readiness, with Prince Daniel asking if he’s “the only one ready?” and Crown Princess Victoria confirming he is.
Mother and son then pair up to make a candle, while Prince Daniel and Princess Estelle team up for their own. Crown Princess Victoria says to her son: “We might have come up with something here!”
The Swedish Royal Court shared that candle lighting is one of Crown Princess Victoria’s favourite traditions, “a recurring and valued tradition in the home,” and shared a photo of the young royal with her parents and younger brother Prince Carl Philip at the Älvrosgården in the 1980s.
The festive video ends with the Crown Princess Family wishing everyone a happy holidays: “God jul och gott nytt år! [Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!]”
