Royal guests will take a scenic boat ride across one of Norway’s prettiest fjords as they make their way to this summer’s big royal wedding.
Princess Martha Louise of Norway and her fiance, Durek Verrett, have shared some of the details of how they will celebrate their marriage as the party gets started.
On the eve of their wedding, August 30th 2024, their guests will step on board two boats that will take them towards the Seven Sisters waterfall.
They are promised a light lunch to enjoy while guides point out some of the highlights of the mountains that surround them on their journey.
The boats will stop by the waterfall on the afternoon of August 30th for a toast to the happy couple before taking the wedding party on to Gerainger where royalty will watch Martha Louise and Durek exchange vows on August 31st 2024.
Details of their celebrations were shared by Hello magazine which has exclusive rights to the four day wedding extravaganza.
On the night before their wedding, the couple will host an evening party at the Union Hotel in Gerainger which promises a ‘presentation’ as well as a spectacular show and a bar that stays open until 3 in the morning.
Clearly, none of the guests need that much sleep as the late night bar is followed by breakfast from 8.
The wedding day itself, August 31st, will include a ‘walk to the red carpet’ before the ceremony takes place in a marquee at Vinje Farm. Then there is afternoon tea and cocktails before a gala dinner gets under way as evening falls.
The programme promises a cake cutting ceremony followed by the happy couple’s first dance and then notes that, at 10.50pm, the ‘party begins’. There’s dancing and drinks until 3am.
Interestingly, this royal wedding rundown also notes several security checks for guests as well as a reminder that the red carpet event ahead of the ceremony itself will include press.
The Norwegian royal family has already said it won’t appear in any of the photographs taken for the Hello exclusive. It’s understood Netflix have also been filming with Princess Martha Louise and Durek Verrett for a wider programme about their relationship.
The couple announced their engagement in 2022 with Durek Verrett, a self proclaimed shaman, presenting his wife to be with an emerald engagement ring.
The relationship between the two has attracted controversy in Norway. Martha Louise has been accused of cashing in on her royal status in business contexts and has promised not to use her title for work purposes. Durek Verrett’s comments on health issues, including his decision to sell medallions which he says cure covid, has also proved controversial.
The wedding celebrations began on August 29th 2024 with a party at which the couple debuted matching pink outfits. Their full marriage will appear in Hello in the coming days.
