The eldest daughter of Archduke Robert of Austria and Princess Margherita of Savoy-Aosta, she os a granddaughter of Emperor Karl and Empress Zita of Austria. In 1980, Archduchess Maria-Beatrice married Count Riprand von und zu Arco-Zinneberg, a great grandson of the last Bavarian King, The couple had six daughters, including Countess Anna Theresa and the Princess Napoleon, and resided in North Carolina and Connecticut as well as the family seats of Schloss Moos in Bavaria, Schloss Sankt Martin im Innkreis in Austria, the Palais Arco-Zinneberg in Munich, and Vysoký Chlumec Castle in the Czech Republic, until his passing in 2021. The exact origin of this magnificent Ruby and Diamond Tiara is unknown but it may originate from the Archduchess’ mother-in-law, Countess Maria Theresa zu Arco Zinneberg, the daughter of Princess Gundelinde of Bavaria and Count Johann Georg von Preysing-Lichtenegg-Moos, who inherited Schloss Moos and the Family Brewery after the untimely death of her only brother during the Second World War. Countess Maria Theresa was also widowed during the war and later married her husband’s younger brother, which led to the birth of Count Riprand.
The Ruby Tiara and Necklace were notably worn by Countess Maria Theresa of Arco Zinneberg at the Wedding Ball of Archduke Ferdinand of Austria and Countess Helene zu Törring-Jettenbach in 1956, where she was seen greeting Grand Duchess Kira Kirillovna, Princess Olga of Yugoslavia, Princess Theodora, Margravine of Baden, Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent, and King Umberto II of Italy.
More recently, the Arco-Zinneberg Ruby Tiara and Necklace were worn by Archduchess Maria-Beatrice, the daughter-in-law of Countess Maria Theresa, at the Wedding Gala of Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg and Countess Stephanie de Lannoy.
In recent years, the daughters of Archduchess Maria-Beatrice and the late Count Riprand have worn the Savoy-Aosta Tiara and the Savoy-Aosta Choker/Bandeau for their weddings but maybe the Arco-Zinneberg Ruby Tiara will make a reappearance soon.
