The King has presented a brand new colour to the Royal Guard at Balmoral Castle.
The regimental flag was handed over by His Majesty in a short ceremony at Balmoral as he began his residence there for the summer.
Accompanied by The Queen, King Charles presented the ‘Ballater Colour’ which is used by the Royal Guard who patrol the castle.
This new colour marks the new reign.
It was presented as His Majesty approaches the first anniversary of his accession which took place at Balmoral.
The King was at the castle on September 8th 2022 when Queen Elizabeth II died. His Majesty was with Her Late Majesty at the time of her passing.
Charles III arrived at Balmoral earlier in August. The Monarch traditionally spends part of the summer at the Scottish residence.
The King and Queen have since been joined by other members of the Royal Family.
The Prince and Princess of Wales were seen accompanying Their Majesties to church on August 27th. The Duke of York was also seen at the service.
King Charles and Queen Camilla will remain at Balmoral and spend the actual anniversary of the accession in the castle.
