Queen Camilla makes rare 9-word statement to congratulate royal insider | Royal | News

Queen Camilla has shared a rare 9-word statement congratulating veteran royal photographer Arthur Edwards on his major honour. The 84-year-old, who still works full-time, was presented with the first Lifetime Achievement gong at the British Press Awards.

The 77-year-old royal, who also gave the statement on behalf of King Charles, said, “I cannot think of anyone who deserves it more.” Arthur, who first joined The Sun in December 1974, received the honour as the biggest names in journalism gathered to salute the very best in the business.

The Queen added: “Not just for your decades of hard graft and talent, but in recognition of the enduring respect, admiration and affection that I know is felt for you across your whole industry — and indeed across the Royal Household.

“For more years than either of us care to remember, you have brought your trademark charm, humour and outstanding skill to countless events.”

Having received his award at London’s Marriott Grosvenor Hotel, The Sun’s editor-in-chief Victoria Newton said: “Arthur Edwards is one of the greats of British journalism.”

Previously complimenting the King and Queen, Arthur claimed that Charles had become “nicer” after marrying Camilla in 2005.

Speaking ahead of King Charles and Queen Camilla’s milestone 20th wedding anniversary back in April, Arthur – who has witnessed the couple’s relationship in person, described the pair as having a “happy union”.

Writing for The Sun, the royal photographer said: “I have seen their marriage up close and, in my opinion, it is an extremely happy union.

“Since their wedding in Windsor on April 9, 2005, it has become very obvious that they make each other feel very happy and secure. The main thing I’ve noticed is that the King, who I have been photographing for nearly 50 years, has become a nicer person.

“Thanks to Camilla, he has calmed down. These days he rarely gets stressed or wound up about things.”
