The Royal Family let everyone know that this just happened as they show support for UK at Eurovision

The Royal Family has given its backing to the UK’s entry in the Eurovision Song Contest with a cheeky nod to the title of the British hopeful.

As Remember Monday got ready to perform ‘What the Hell Just Happened?’ at the 2025 final in Basel, Switzerland, the guards outside Buckingham Palace were ready with a royal tribute.

The band of the Irish Guards played their version of the song on the forecourt of the Palace just hours before the competition began.

And the royals got into the spirit on social media, sharing a video of the performance with the line ”THIS just happened”.

There was also a celebratory message, with the Royal Family saying ”Wishing Remember Monday the very best of luck in the Eurovision Final in Basel this evening!”

The Royal Family has show its support for British entries in the Song Contest before. The UK last hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in 2023, staging the competition on behalf of the 2022 winners, Ukraine, who had beaten the British entry, Sam Ryder, into second place. King Charles and Queen Camilla visited the stage ahead of the event while the Princess of Wales performed a piano version of Stefania by the Kalush Orchestra which had claimed victory in the 2022 contest.

They might have to wait for a return of the contest. The winning country always hosts the following year and Remember Monday are currently mid table rankings with most bookies, making a win unlikely. However, another royal family might get a Eurovision party next year. The current favourites for the win are Sweden.
