Fans who listened to episode two of Meghan Markle’s new podcast Confessions of a Female Founder are convinced the show is “all about her”. On Tuesday, 15 April, Meghan released an episode featuring Reshma Saujani, the founder of Girls Who Code. The episode description states: “In this dynamic episode, Meghan sits down with Reshma Saujani, a tenacious founder who’s built two successful nonprofits that close the gender gap for women: first, Girls Who Code and now, Moms First.”
Following the release of the second episode, a social media user on X posted: “Her show should be dynamic and tell interesting and compelling stories about women who build a brand. No such thing happens instead it’s all about her and that’s annoying.”
Another wrote: “Omg! I cannot go with a round 2. The first podcast was simply awful. I was so bored, I actually nodded off. Meghan kept turning the conversation back to reflect herself. She is so predictable. She never learns from her mistakes.”
A third social media user wrote: “On paper the concept is that she speaks to female founders to hear how they achieved what they did, and what they struggled with. But she’s not a journalist or a good talk show host because she keeps one-upping everyone’s stories.”
Some fans, however, are enjoying the content: “This episode is so good! What an amazing conversation! Reshma Saujani is so accomplished but so relatable and inspiring. Meghan’s podcast bringing new voices and insights!”
One added: “Meghan Sussex’s new podcast episode with Reshma Saujani is just SO GOOD.”
The guest’s business, Girls Who Code, is a nonprofit organisation aimed to support and increase the number of women in computer science. The organisation says it has helped train more than 670,000 girls, women and non-binary individuals in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The new episode description states: “Meghan met Reshma years ago when Girls Who Code was expanding into the UK. Here, they reunite to talk about redesigning workplaces for women and how to make the hard choice to put your health (and yourself) before your work.”
To promote the new episode, which was released on April 15, Meghan uploaded an Instagram story about the new content.
She wrote: “So excited for you all to hear this latest episode with Girls Who Code and Moms First founder @reshmasaujani! It was my pleasure to reconnect with her and dig into the real talk about building, balancing, and breaking through! (With babies, no less). How’s that for some alliteration? ;).”
Bumble founder and CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd was the guest for the first episode of Confessions of a Female Founder. She and Meghan spoke about their close friendship and juggling work with motherhood, and how they both navigated postpartum preeclampsia, a rare complication that can be life-threatening after giving birth.
Meghan’s joint venture with Lemonada Media is Meghan’s second stint in podcasting.
