Next week, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark will be celebrating her 85th Birthday, which is the perfect time to look back to her major birthday celebrations over the years, starting with when Royal Guests and Relatives gathered from around Europe to celebrate Queen Margrethe’s 60th Birthday 25 years ago!
The Birthday celebrations started with a Gala Performance of ‘The Kermesse in Bruges’ at the Royal Danish Theatre, where Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik of Denmark led the Royal Guests and Relatives.

The following morning, the Danish Royal Family waved to crowds from the Balcony of Amalienborg Palace, followed by a Service of Thanksgiving, a Carriage Procession through Copenhagen, and a Reception at the City Hall.
In the evening, Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik hosted a glittering Banquet and Ball at Christiansborg Palace.
