The Princess of Wales helped make a young cancer patient’s wish come true at Windsor Castle on Wednesday, checking one more item off her bucket list.

Catherine, who revealed last month that she has completed her chemotherapy treatments but now begins a long process of remaining cancer-free, has slowly returned to work with private meetings.

Tuesday’s meeting with 16-year-old Liz Hatton marks her first photographed appearance since the summer.

Liz had been invited by the Prince of Wales to take pictures at the Investiture Ceremony he presided over at Windsor Castle on Wednesday. Afterwards, the teenager and her family had a private meeting with William and Catherine.

William had learned about Liz and her bucket list through the London Air Ambulance Charity and issued an invite for the amateur photographer to shoot his Investiture Ceremony. A palace spokesperson said that “Following the investiture both the Prince and Princess of Wales met Liz privately with her family to hear about her day and journey.”

Earlier this year, Liz was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer, desmoplastic small round cell tumour, that may give her anywhere from six months and three years. She created a bucket list to take pictures at concerts and other public events, leading to the invite from Kensington Palace.

On social media, William and Catherine shared photos of their meeting with Liz and her family, and wrote: “A pleasure to meet with Liz at Windsor today. A talented young photographer whose creativity and strength has inspired us both.

“Thank you for sharing your photos and story with us. W&C.”

Liz wrote in her own post: “Such lovely, genuine and kind people, I’m over the moon that my family and I had this experience.”
