Queen Margrethe II joined King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark as they hosted their first Royal Yacht Dannebrog Dinner (Strygemindag) in Christian VII’s Palace at Amalienborg on September 11th, marking the end of the Royal Yacht’s Sailing Season.
King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark hosted a Strygemindag Dinner for Officers from the Royal Yacht Dannebrog at Christian VII’s Palace in Amalienborg, marking the end of the Royal Yacht’s Sailing Season.
Royal Yacht Dannebrog’s officers were last night invited to dinner in Christian VII’s Palace at Amalienborg to the Royal couple’s ‘strygemindag’. Her Majesty Queen Margrethe also joined the dinner.
The term ‘strygemiddag’ comes from the fact that the command is ironing, which means that the command sign (pimple) is taken down from the Royal Ship Dannebrog, and thus marks the end of the sailing season
At tonight’s ironing dinner, the Majesties also bid farewell to yacht captain Peter Schinkel Stamp, who is retiring after five years of service on the Royal Ship.
