Lady Louise Windsor is unlikely to become a working member of the Royal Family due to a “common complaint”, an expert claims.

The 20-year-old has spent a large percentage of her life away from the royal spotlight – having only made appearances at some major royal events alongside her family. Speaking on whether we could expect to see Lady Louise step up as a working royal, royal expert Jennie Bond said that this appears unlikely for one major reason.

The expert told OK!: “It’s clear that for the next 15 years or so (depending on when Prince George decides to take up, full-time royal duties), the working Royals are going to become extremely thin on the ground.

“But I’m doubtful that Lady Louise would ever become a full-time working royal, partly because I’m not sure she would want to, and also because The King and William know only too well that the monarchy has to be increasingly accountable to the taxpayer.”

Further explaining the common complaint, Ms Bond added: “The most common complaint about the Royal Family is that they cost too much.

“Extra working royals would mean extra staff, extra administration, extra security extra cost. And that is not the direction that either the King [Charles] or William want to take.”

She also suggested that Lady Louise could take up a “similar course” to her cousin, Zara Tindall.

The expert said: “Also, Louise is only 20, she is enjoying university life and she undoubtedly casts an eye at her cousin, Zara Tindall, and sees the independence and freedom and fun she has in her life as a much-loved member of the Royal Family, but not a working royal. I would bet that Louise will follow a similar course.”

Louise – who has a younger brother called James – is currently following in Prince William’s footsteps by having joined St Andrews University in 2022

The start of Louise’s studies at St Andrews began just weeks after her beloved grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II’s death.

The university was where the Prince and Princess of Wales struck up their friendship in the early 2000s – eventually leading to their romance.
