MEGHAN Markle and Prince Harry have finally confirmed whether they will be attending King Charles’ coronation.
Here, we tell you if the married couple, who live in the US, will be at the May 6, 2023, event.
It was confirmed on April 12, 2023, that Meghan Markle would not be attending King Charles coronation.
This is despite it being revealed back in March 4, 2023, that the couple had already received an invitation from King Charles’ office to attend the event.
Their reply came nine days after the RSVP deadline of April 3, 2023.
Close friend Omar Scobie tweeted: “I understand that Archie’s fourth birthday (also on May 6) played a factor in the couple’s decision.”
It is not known what other factors were involved in their decisions.
Unlike his wife, Harry will be attending his father’s coronation, but he will be unaccompanied.
It will be the first time Harry has been seen with the Royal Family since the release of his memoir, Spare, in January 2023.
However, Harry will not be allowed to stand on the balcony with the rest of his family, as he is no longer a working royal.
This means that his uncle Prince Andrew will also not be standing with the family.
However, Harry isn’t thought to be sticking around at the event.
Scobie said of his attendance: “Expect it to be a fairly quick trip to the UK for Prince Harry, who will only be attending the coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey.”
Harry and Meghan live in Los Angeles, California.
Much like Meghan, neither Archie or Lillibet will be attending the coronation.
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson confirmed the news in a statement, saying: “Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that the Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on May 6.
“The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”
