Royal and Noble Guests gathered for the Wedding of Countess Elisabeth von Merveldt and Ghislain d’Adesky at the Saint-Benedict Church in Ascheberg-Herbern on August 17th, ahead of a Reception at Schloss Westerwinkel in Westphalia.

Countess Elisabeth von Merveldt, daughter of the Count von Merveldt, Freiherr zu Lembeck and Freiherr von Twickel and Baroness Catherine de Pitteurs de Budingen, married Ghislain d’Adesky, the son of Baron François d’Adeski, at the Saint-Benedict Church in Ascheberg-Herbern following a Civil Ceremony at Schloss Lembeck.

The religious ceremony took place at the Saint-Benedict Church in Ascheberg-Herbern conducted by Father Markus Pottbäcker in Gelsenkirchen, assisted by Father Michael Cusack, chaplain of the English-speaking parish in Luxembourg.

This marriage reflected the harmony of the couples’ diverse family origins: the bride, whose father is from Germany and her mother from Belgium, and the groom, born to a Belgian-Rwandan father and a Franco-British mother. After both living in many countries, the bride and groom gathered their friends from around the world to celebrate the most beautiful day of their lives so far.

The festivities continued at Westerwinkel Castle, the residence of Elizabeth’s parents. Weeks of preparation had transformed the park at Schloss Westerwinkel into a dreamlike setting. Blue and yellow flags representing the family crest, along with tasteful, elegant floral decorations, created a stylish atmosphere for the festivities. This was the first wedding of the Merveldt family at Westerwinkel in over 75 years, beautifully intertwining history with the present.

Countess Elisabeth von Merveldt wore an heirloom Diamond Tiara from the Merveldt Family.

Particularly striking was the garland-style diamond tiara worn by the bride. Adorned with delicate leaf motifs, laurel wreaths, and intertwined diamond ribbons, the tiara lent the bride a majestic aura. It was more than just a piece of jewelry – it was a symbol of the Merveldt family’s tradition and heritage.

Royal and Noble Guests included Prince Nicholas and Princess Alina of Romania.

The witnesses of the bride and groom were Countess Valérie von Merveldt, Countess Mariella zu Ortenburg, Countess Catherine von Spee, Prince Lionel von Croerv, Count Gaëtan d’Harambure, Michał Mach and José de Pierpont.

Among the guests were many large families from Westfalia, as well as representatives of European nobility.
