Sandringham needs someone to keep its 2000 strong flock of sheep in line.
But while this might be one of the oldest professions in the world, the advert for royal shepherd is very modern. It’s been shared online and via social media.
The spec notes that the ideal candidate will have at least two years experience and their own working dogs as well as a full, clean UK driving licence. They also have to have the right to live and work in the UK.
Sandringham promises says the successful applicant will find themselves tasked with ”day to day shepherding” but adds that ”some assistant in winter housing and spring caving of the beef herd” will also be required.
Sandringham is King Charles III’s private estate in Norfolk. It’s been a favourite royal retreat for decades and His Majesty traditionally gathers the Royal Family there for Christmas.
