Vintage Aston Martin DB6 similar to one Queen gifted to King Charles is set to fetch a FORTUNE

A VINTAGE Aston Martin DB6 similar to the one Queen Elizabeth gave to King Charles is expected to be sold for a fortune when it goes under the hammer.

The 1970 Aston Martin DB6 Mk2 Volante echoes the motor the Queen gifted to Prince Charles on his 21st birthday.

That car was also used by Prince William and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, on the evening of their wedding.

The sale of the Mk2, once owned by a sheikh, is set to take place just after the King’s coronation and has a princely estimate of between £600,000 – £700,000.

Interestingly, in tune with King Charles’ eco-credentials, this Aston was previously fitted with an electric-powered engine as a showcase of the company’s environmental development.

Auctioneers Silverstone Auctions said: “One of only 38, second-generation DB6 Volantes like the royal car, the impeccable car was also previously owned by His Highness Sheikh Nasser Mohammed Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah former Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait.

“It remained in the Kuwaiti Collection, lightly used, until 2018 when the ‘Works’ were able to buy it back and return it to (Aston Martin) Newport Pagnell.”

The car is now being sold with its original petrol engine and a current mileage of just under 54,000.

Silverstone Auctions will hold the sale on May 20 at the Supercar Fest at Sywell Aerodrome, Northamptonshire.

Also being sold at the same auction is a 2000 TVR Cerbera Speed 12, it’s unique as it was the only TVR-built road car and it shot to fame when it was used as a model for the Gran Turismo computer game

The vehicle, known as the TVR Project 7/12, first appeared at the 1996 Birmingham Motor Show and dominated the show once it was unveiled.

The number “7” referred to the 7.7 litre engine, and “12” for the number of cylinders in the engine.

TVR claimed that the engine would have a power output of more than 800 hp (597 kW) and be faster than the McLaren F1.
