Tiaras of the Princess of Ligne

Happy Birthday to Princess Eleonora of Orléans-Braganza, Princess of Ligne, who turns 70 today! The Brazilian Princess married to the Head of the illustrious Belgian Noble Family, the Princess of Ligne has access to some splendid heirlooms, but has not been pictured wearing any of them yet, though we are featuring the Tiaras of the Princess of Ligne!

Diamond Tiara

The Ligne Family posses a spectacular Heirloom, composed of diamond flowers set within diamond arches, topped with three diamonds, which seems to have been worn by one of the Princesses of Ligne at the Wedding Ball of King Constantine II of Greece and Princess Anne Marie of Denmark in 1964.

The Tiara was worn by Princess Christine de Ligne and Orléans-Braganza at the Wedding Gala of Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg and Countess Stephanie de Lannoy in 2012.

In 2014, the Diamond Tiara worn worn by Princess Amelia of Orléans-Braganza, the daughter of Princess Christine, for her Wedding to James Spearman, grandson of Sir Alexander Mainwaring Spearman, at the Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Carmo in Rio de Janeiro, when it was stated that the Tiara was a Ligne Heirloom.

More recently, the Diamond Tiara was worn by Princess Alix de Ligne, the only daughter of the Prince and Princess of Ligne, for her Wedding to Count Guillaume de Dampierre at the Château de Belœil.

Diamond Flower Tiara

When Princess Yolande de Ligne married Archduke Carl Ludwig of Austria in 1950, she wore a striking Tiara with a central element, which was also worn in 1976 when Countess Marguerite de Renesse married Prince Wauthier de Ligne.

In 1981, the Tiara was worn by Princess Christine de Ligne, the brother of the Prince de Ligne, when she married Prince António de Orleans e Braganca, the sister of the Princess de Ligne. The following year, the Tiara was worn by Princess Sophie de Linge when she married Count Philippe de Nicolay.

Most recently, the Tiara was worn by Princess Melanie de Ligne, a niece of the current Prince de Ligne, when she married Paul Weingarten in 2011.
