Prince Ricardo De La Cerda
The Belgian royal family is currently enjoying an Easter break and they have plenty to celebrate. Just a day after King Philippe celebrated his 65th birthday, his youngest child has marked their own special day as Princess Eleonore turns 17.
The Belgian royals have released new portraits of the princess to mark her birthday, taken by photographer Bas Bogaerts.
The teenage princess chose a pair of orange trousers, a white draped t-shirt, and a delicate yellow gold necklace and coordinating bracelet and earrings for the images which were taken before she headed to Spain for a break with her family.
Princess Eléonore is currently studying in English at the International School of Brussels but occasionally joins her family for official events. In December 2024, she joined her elder sister, Princess Elisabeth, for the annual Christmas concert at the Royal Palace.
Eléonore was born on 16 April 2008 at Erasmus Hospital in Anderlecht to the future King Philippe and Queen Mathilde. She joined Princess Elisabeth, Prince Gabriel, and Prince Emmanuel. Her godparents include Princess Claire of Belgium and Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden.
The princess also attended Dutch secondary schools before moving to the International School.
Like her siblings, Eléonore is very active. She enjoys skiing and sailing, as well as tennis. In 2024, she was able to join her siblings in Paris for the 2024 Olympics- a major win for the sporty princess!
