The unroyal kitchen item late Queen was obsessed with | Royal | News

King Charles and the Princess of Wales may be high up in the royal hierarchy but they are just like the rest of us in some respects.

It looks like they share a mutual fondness for one very common kitchen item most of us use – and one that the late Queen Elizabeth was said to have been obsessed with, according to a source.

Back in 2003, an undercover reporter breached security to get a job as a footman at Buckingham Palace and revealed many secrets of the royals’ everyday lives.

Daily Mirror journalist Ryan Parry claimed that Her late Majesty liked to use Tupperware – plastic containers – to store her breakfast cereals.

The late monarch’s breakfast table would be meticulously prepared before her and the late Prince Philip’s arrival but it would always feature Tupperware boxes containing cornflakes and porridge oats.

The reporter wrote at the time, describing the scene: “A thick white napkin embroidered with the EIIR emblem lies folded on the table next to the cornflakes and porridge oats in their Tupperware containers.”

Now a source has claimed that her son, King Charles, as well as his daughter-in-law, like to do the same thing.

The source told Express.co.uk: “Charles and Camilla urge their staff to keep everything fresh by using Tupperware.

“Charles got that from his mother and father. They use it mostly when they are having picnics on the estate [Balmoral].

They added: “William and Kate also put everything into Tupperware as well,” alluding to Kate doing it herself: “She’s quite hands-on.”

Charles is known for his low-key approach to dieting which includes homegrown vegetables, small meals and eggs from his chickens at Highgrove House.

For breakfast, the monarch is said to be keen on nuts and seeds along with a cup of tea, according to royal journalist, Tina Brown’s book “The Palace Papers”.

Meanwhile, the Princess of Wales reportedly enjoys having oatmeal in the morning to keep her fueled for the day.
