It’s been just over a year since King Charles III ascended the throne. But, some elements of the new reign are still in transition. Up until now, investitures saw recipients receive honours that had Queen Elizabeth II’s name on the boxes that held medals. Now, that has been changed.
️ Six new medal designs will feature on the 50 different awards which are presented at Investiture ceremonies.

In early October, insignias with Charles’ effigy were unveiled. The images of His Majesty appear on the medals given to honour recipients during these ceremonies. The insignia was seen on two Royal Red Cross and two King’s Police medals at a ceremony presented by The Princess Royal.
Six new medal designs will be used for the 50 different awards presented at investitures. This will replace images of Her Late Majesty who died in September 2022.

During another recent investiture ceremony, the Prince of Wales was seen with two royal cyphers on his military uniform, “ER” and “CR.” One to represent his late grandmother, and one to represent his father, the king. The cyphers signify the Prince’s roles as an aide-de-camp to both monarchs. The dual cyphers were also spotted at Trooping the Colour earlier this year.
