The Royal Family says thank you to Andy Murray as he retires from tennis

The Royal Family has sent a big thank you to Sir Andy Murray as he retired from tennis.

Sir Andy’s career came to an end on a balmy summer’s evening in Paris as he and his doubles partner, Dan Evans, lost their quarter final match.

The straight sets defeat marked the final game of an illustrious career which saw Sir Andy become the first British man to win a singles title at Wimbledon in 77 years. Two All England Club titles and a US Open as well as two gold medals in the men’s singles at the Olympics are among his many achievements.

As tributes poured in from fellow competitors and sporting organisations, King Charles also sent congratulations on Sir Andy’s sporting achievements.

The official Royal Family Instagram featured photos of the tennis star on its stories with a message saying ”thank you, Andy Murray’ while the official X account reposted the Wimbledon tribute with a green heart emoji.

Sir Andy, however, won the internet with his own post following his retirement. Just moments into his new life, he wrote on X ”never even liked tennis anyway”.
