Prince Ricardo De La Cerda
It’s a royal wedding where images of the bride and groom had been hard to come by. And, in their absence, the romantic decision of another prince had taken centre stage. As Princess Martha Louise and Durek Verrett arrived for their wedding behind huge sheets to protect the exclusive rights given to Hello magazine, all eyes fell on another couple.
The bride’s nephew, Prince Sverre Magnus, surprised everyone by bringing his girlfriend to the celebrations.
And his constant appearances alongside Amalie Giæver Macleod have caught the imaginations of the Norwegian press who have had to cover the wedding from outside after the bridge and groom took their decision to give Hello first rights on the coverage.
Amalie made her first wedding appearance as she joined Prince Sverre Magnus to walk to the boat taking the royal party to Gerainger. They were seen holding hands as they made their way to the ship.
Norwegian press reports that the two have been dating for several months and found photos of them standing together during Norway’s national day celebrations when Prince Sverre Magus decided not to join his family on the palace balcony but watch celebrations with his college friends instead.
The prince and his friend look very happy in each other’s company and both have been seen laughing and joking with Sverre’s older sister, Princess Ingrid Alexandra.
Sverre’s parents also seem delighted with Amalie and the eagle eyed royal fashion experts at UFO No More spotted another moment of support as the group arrived for the gala dinner following the wedding of Princess Martha Louise and Durek Verrett.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit had lent one of her evening dresses to Amalie. The brown Vera Wang gown was worn by Mette-Marit for events ahead of her own wedding in 2001.
The decision of Prince Sverre Magnus to bring his girlfriend along to the wedding had become one of the big stories of the celebrations which had taken place behind closed doors for several days.
However, unexpectedly, Princess Martha Louise and her new husband, Durek Verrett, did a walkabout outside the hotel in Gerainger where they are marking their wedding and appeared on a balcony overlooking the town.
It allowed everyone a glimpse of her bespoke dress and the diamond and pearl tiara, given to her by her grandfather, King Olav. It also gave a closer look at Durek’s specially made tuxedo which featured the couple’s monogram, embroidered in gold, on the jacket sleeves.
Princess Martha Louise married Durek Verrett on August 31st 2024.
