The Prince and Princess of Wales present prestigious trophy at Royal Ascot – Royal Central

The Prince and Princess of Wales have presented the trophy to the winners of the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot.

After arriving in the carriage procession in the early afternoon, Their Royal Highnesses enjoyed the first two races from the Royal Box, before heading down to the parade ring to make the presentation.

Shaquille was the winner of the race, with the horse’s owners picking up £340,260 in prize money.

The horse is trained by Julie Camacho and was ridden by Oisin Murphy, both of whom collected their prize from Prince William and Catherine.

This is the Prince and Princess of Wales’s first visit to Royal Ascot in 2023.

The couple proved to be extremely popular with the crowds, as tens of thousands of people tried to get a spot along the rails to see the carriage procession.

The King and Queen have so far attended every day of the royal meeting, with the action concluding on Saturday.

Also making a trophy presentation on Friday was the Duchess of Edinburgh who presented the prize to the winner of the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes.

The King also made the presentation to the winner of the Coronation Stakes.
