The impressive story of a tiara of an empress

The Empress of Japan wore one of the most famous jewels belonging to the Imperial Royal Family when she was guest of honour at a State Banquet at Buckingham Palace.

Empress Masako wore the Imperial Chrysanthemum Tiara and her choice was historic.

It’s an all diamond tiara and it is worn exclusively by the Empress.

Notably, the women of the Japanese Imperial Family only wear white stones.

The chrysanthemum design is also an important element, as the chrysanthemum is a symbol of the Japanese throne (which is often referred to as the Chrysanthemum Throne).

The choice reflected the importance of the State Visit by the Emperor and Empress of Japan to the UK.
