Queen Mary has given the royal seal of approval to the favourite royal pet everywhere: dogs!
In her role as Royal Patron of Denmark’s Frie Forskningsfond, Queen Mary presented Christy Anna Hipsley with the award for “Original Idea of the Year”. Hipsley, from the University of Copenhagen, focuses on the history of dogs.
Queen Mary was first announced as Patron in May 2024, only four months Queen Margrethe abdicated and Frederik and Mary took the throne.
Denmark’s Frie Forskningsfond provides funding to Danish researchers in order to promote and strengthen research done in Denmark.
Hipsley is an Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen and works in Ecology and Evolution.
The Danish Queen chose to rewear one of her favourite ensembles for the conference. She wore a grey checked one-piece jumpsuit and accessorised with dark grey suede heals and a dark green clutch bag.
Queen Mary continued a busy day as she attended a Gala Dinner with King Frederik. The dinner is a celebration of Børsen, Copenhagen’s stock exchange.
The stock exchange building that dates back to 1625 suffered significant fire damage of this year. On Thursday, The King laid the new cornerstone of the building as rebuilding begins.
