Prince ‘Abdul Mateen of Brunei, the tenth child and fourth son of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei, with his second wife, Puan Mariam binti Abdul Aziz, will marry Anisha Rosnah binti Adam in series of ceremonies at the Istana Nurul Iman in Bandar Seri Begawan this next week.

Prince Mateen of Brunei and Anisha Rosnah binti Adam have known each other since childhood, since her brother is his best friend. The couple have been together for several years.

Celebrations will began with the Istiadat Berbedak Pengantin Diraja, the Royal Powdering Ceremony, at the Balai Singgahsana Indera Buana in the Istana Nurul Iman today. The powdering ceremony is when the couple’s families bless them by putting colored rice powder and scented oils on their hands.

The Islamic Ceremony will be held at the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in Bandar Seri Begawan on January 11th, which will be followed by the Majlis Istiadat Bersanding Pengantin Diraja or Royal Bersanding Ceremony for Prince Mateen and Anisha Rosnah binti Adam at the Istana Nurul Iman.

On January 16th, there will a Majlis Persantapan Diraja, Reception, for Prince Mateen and Princess Anisha at the Istana Nurul Iman, which will be attended by the extended Brunei Royal Family and Royal Guests. There will also be a Parade around Bandar Seri Begawan.

In recent years, Prince Mateen has attended the Enthronement of Emperor Naruhito of Japan, the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, and the Wedding of Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan among a series of foreign royal events, so we could expect a fair amount of foreign royal guests at the wedding celebrations, likely Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa of Jordan, Prince Sebastian of Luxembourg, and Prince Johann-Wenzel of Liechtenstein, who were at Sandhurst with Prince Mateen.
