After wrapping up, Olivia, 54, kicked her leg in the air, while Dominic, 53, looked flushed as if overcome with emotion.

Cast and crew danced in a can-can line to a live band and punched the air with pride.

The final scenes of series six, due to stream later this year, were shot in Rochester, Kent, as a stand-in for Windsor.

The Crown’s last season saw a young Kate Middleton catching a young Prince William’s eye, with Ed McVey playing the teen version of the Prince.

Meanwhile actress Meg Bellamy, 19, will play his future wife, in what will be her acting debut.

Filming took place at St Andrews in Scotland, which is where William and Kate first met at university.
