Whilst King Charles and Queen Camilla embarked on a nine-day royal tour in Australia and Samoa, other members of the Royal Family held down the fort in the UK.
Princess Anne, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent and the Duchess of Edinburgh carried out 12 engagements between them during that time. The King and Queen’s tour to Australia and Samoa took place between Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 26.
Other royal visits took place between a range of places across the UK, including Princess Anne’s trip to Edinburgh on Saturday and the Duchess of Edinburgh’s visit to Swansea last week.
Princess Anne, who is the King’s only sister, is known for being the hardest working member of the Royal Family, whilst the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent and the Duchess of Edinburgh have been a huge support to the King across the past two years.

On October 25, Princess Anne this opened the British Standards Institution International Electrotechnical Commission Annual Meeting at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, the Exchange, 150 Morrison Street, Edinburgh.
During the visit, the royal was received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh (Councillor Robert Aldridge, the Rt. Hon. the Lord Provost).
Taking to X, fans praised the royal’s visit, with one fan commenting under a picure of Anne from the visit that she is a “star”.
Another commented: “She is always up to the task… as a royal… Bravo your Royal Highness.”
The Duke of Kent, Freeman, the Honourable Company of Air Pilots, attended the Trophies and Awards Banquet at Guildhall, 71 Basinghall Street, London EC2 on the evening of October 24.
The Princess Royal re-opened the Rowan Glen Factory at Palnure, near Newton Stewart on October 24. She was received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Wigtownshire (Mrs. Aileen Brewis).
Her Royal Highness, Patron, Royal College of Occupational Therapists, then opened the new wing at West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven, and was received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cumbria (Mr. Alexander Scott).
The Princess Royal – who is the Patron of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity – , then attended the Trafalgar Night Dinner at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich.
Accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, she was received by Mr. Matthew Burrow (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

The Duchess of Edinburgh – who is the Patron of the Scar Free Foundation – visited Swansea University’s Simulation and Immersive Learning Centre, Singleton Park Campus, Swansea University, Swansea on October 23.
The royal, who is the wife of Prince Edward, and was received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of West Glamorgan (Mrs. Louise Fleet).
The Duke of Gloucester, Royal Patron at the British Museum, was received Dr. Robert Nicholas Cullinan (Director) on October 23.
The Duke of Kent, Royal Colonel, 1st Battalion The Rifles, received Lieutenant Colonel Simon Burkill upon assuming his appointment as Commanding Officer on October 23.

The Princess Royal attended a Bicentenary Commemorative Service to recognise the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service in St. Giles’ Cathedral, Edinburgh on October 23. She was received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh (Councillor Robert Aldridge, the Rt. Hon. the Lord Provost).
Her Royal Highness, Patron, Vine Trust, later received Dr. Claire Bawn upon assuming her appointment as Chairman and the Reverend William McPherson upon relinquishing his appointment as Chief Executive Officer and Mr. Kenneth Holt upon assuming the appointment.
Anne – who is the Patron of Moredun Foundation – was subsequently received Professor Julie Fitzpatrick upon relinquishing her appointment as Chief Executive Officer and Dr. T. McNeilly upon assuming the appointment.
Her Royal Highness, Royal Patron, Leuchie Forever Fund, also held a Benefactors’ Dinner at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
The Duke of Kent, who is the President of the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies, received Dr. Karin von Hippel upon relinquishing her appointment as Director General on October 22.
The Princess Royal, who is the Master of the Corporation of Trinity House, chaired the Quarterly Meeting of the Court and attended a Luncheon at Trinity House in London on October 22.
Her Royal Highness, Patron of UK Coaching, held a Reception at Buckingham Palace to celebrate Olympic and Paralympic Coaching.
The Duchess of Gloucester, Patron of Cruse Bereavement Support, received Ms. Lucy Harmer (Chief Executive) and Mrs. Alison Shotter (Director of Income Generation and Marketing) on October October 21.
The Princess Royal, was accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, attended British Champions Day at Ascot Racecourse, Berkshire on October 19.
Princess Anne, Patron, of Shaftesbury, received Mr. John Robinson (Chairman) and Ms. Sally Chivers (Chief Executive Officer) on October 18.
Her Royal Highness, Patron of Riding for the Disabled Association, was received Mr. Michael Bishop upon assuming his appointment as Chief Executive. Ms. Helena Vega-Lozano (Chairman) was present.
The Princess Royal, Patron, Woolf Institute, was received by Mr. Shabir Randeree upon relinquishing his appointment as Chairman and the Right Reverend Timothy Stevens upon assuming the appointment.
Her Royal Highness also attended a performance by the Spanish Riding School of Vienna at OVO Arena, Arena Square, Engineers Way, Wembley Park, Wembley, Middlesex, that evening. She was received by Miss Mei Sim Lai (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).
