Pippa Middleton served a slightly different yet relaxed courtside look as she attended Wimbledon on day 12 of the 2024 championships alongside her husband, James Matthews – which has left royal fashion fans scratching their heads.
Pippa, 40, was seen on July 12, ahead of the match between Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti and Serbia’s Novak Djokovic, wearing the ‘Mimi’ jumpsuit from Claire Mischevani but the outfit resembled a very casual look, with fans thinking she was wearing her “pyjamas” to Wimbledon.
Princess Kate’s sister wore a jumpsuit which featured a cinched waistline and flared wide-leg trousers. The garment also had short bell sleeves and an open neckline with a relaxed-fit collar buttons down the front.
Fashion fan @simidube on Instagram wrote: “This looks like silk pajamas. Too casual for Wimbledon IMHO.”
Whereas user @tevhide.p said: “Pj’s at Wimbledon” marked with a thumbs down emoji.
Another fan thought a dress would have suited the occasion more: “I want to like it, it’s fun and different but the pattern, the colour and the sleeves are wrong and it’s not for Wimbledon. I don’t think it flatters her at all and she looks so great in a dress.”
Some fans however did seem to like the outfit choice. User @tashas_2000 said: “Fabulous! Very boho and fun and chic at the same time. I don’t feel like that shade of aqua is that great for her, but that is an amazing look.”
Whereas, irene.eastwood_ commented: “Liked the top half, then saw bottoms and thought PJs.”
Accessorising the jumpsuit, the Princess’ sister styled the bold printed number with a raffia clutch bag from J. Crew and added to the jumpsuit by wearing a pair of tan platformed espadrilles.
Husband, James Matthews, the brother of Made in Chelsea show Spencer Matthews, wore a beige linen suit with a pale blue shirt and navy tie.
Pippa isn’t the only member of the Middleton family to make an appearance at Wimbledon this year, with parents Michael Middleton and Carole Middleton also attending the Wimbledon Tennis Championships.
After weeks of speculation, Kensington Palace announced Princess Kate will attend the Wimbledon men’s final tomorrow. The Princess of Wales, who is patron of the All-England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, is expected to present the trophy to the winner.
Royal fans were hoping to see the Princess at the 2024 tournament and she will be there to present the trophy to either Novak Djokovic or Carlos Alcaraz. It is not yet known whether any of her three children Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, nine, or Prince Louis, six, will join her.
The announcement comes days after Wimbledon said they were working on “backup plans” in case the Princess, who is undergoing preventative chemotherapy, was unable to attend this year.
Princess Kate, 42, has remained out of the spotlight since her cancer diagnosis earlier this year, but made a surprise appearance at Trooping the Colour alongside the rest of the Royal Family.
