Prince William was said to have given a four word response to his brother Prince Harry after he shared big news at their cousin’s wedding.
Five years ago, Princess Eugenie walked down the aisle to marry husband Jack Brooksbank. The mum-of-two enjoyed a grand wedding at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, with both the Prince and Princess of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in attendance.
The rare family get together was seemingly reason for the Sussexes to share exciting news. Just five months after their wedding, they were expecting their first child.
Harry wrote in his memoir Spare that he decided to tell William after a drinks reception in St George’s Hall when he and Meghan pulled him aside – and the heir to the throne straight away gave a four-word response. He said: “We whispered the news and Willy smiled and said ‘we must tell Kate’.
“She was across the room talking to Pippa. I said we could do it later, but he insisted.
“So we went and told Kate and she also gave us big smile and hearty congratulations. They both reacted exactly as I’d hoped – as I’d wished.”
Despite what might seem like a faux pas announcing a pregnancy at a wedding, Harry and Meghan are said to have remained close to Eugenie and husband Jack amongst all the fall out since their move to the US.
