Prince Harry was heavily criticised by a royal commentator after making a “mad” move which would have most likely left his older brother, Prince William, “annoyed”. The Duke of Sussex made an unannounced visit to war-torn Ukraine last week, just hours after he was snapped in his home country attending an appeal over a High Court ruling regarding his downgraded security in Britain.
Harry met war victims at an orthopaedic clinic and rehabilitation centre in Lviv, as part of his ongoing work supporting injured veterans, a spokesperson said. But his visit was savaged by the Daily Mail’s Richard Kay, who branded it “ludicrous” and said on the Palace Confidential: “Part of his shtick is that it’s not safe for him to be in the UK. And then [he was seen] jetting off to a bona fide war zone in Ukraine. I mean, good for him, he was following things [close to him], supporting injured warriors, but it’s slightly mad to suggest that he’s somehow not safe in Britain but he would be safe in a war zone.”
Host Jo Elvin went on to say how “it’s beyond irony” for Prince Harry with Mr Kay agreeing and talking about how the move could have left Prince William “annoyed,” saying: “The issue here is that William is following Government advice and going to places where it’s deemed safe for him to go. We know he would very much like to pay a visit to Ukraine himself but he has not been able to do so and I think [Harry’s unannounced trip] will have irritated him.”
