Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly been left feeling humiliated after the failure of their Spotify podcast.
Despite their failure, an insider has said this is a motivating factor driving the couple forward as they seek to recapture some success.
Speaking to GB News they explained: “The Sussexes haven’t talked about it publicly but it was humiliating for them both. The Spotify failure put a fire under both of them to keep moving forward.”
The revelation comes as reports suggest that the pair could be in talks with one of Spotify’s rivals to launch a brand-new product.
Advisors for Harry and Meghan have allegedly opened discussions with Amazon’s Audible over a multi-million-pound deal. A source has said that this forms part of their desire to establish the media arm of their Archewell organisation in 2024.
An insider said Harry and Meghan were “retooling, retrenching and preparing to change course in their efforts to establish themselves”. They added the couple wanted to be seen as “serious players across multi-media platforms”.
Rumours of a new media venture for Harry and Meghan arose just weeks after Spotify’s CEO Daniel Ek had explained why the business cut so many podcasts.
He said: “We thought new innovation was needed to happen here. And the truth of the matter is some of it has worked, some of it hasn’t.”
