A royal biographer has claimed that Meghan Markle “could sense she wasn’t wanted” when Queen Elizabeth II died and that King Charles asked Prince Harry to travel alone when he made his way to Balmoral Castle.

The claim has been made by Omid Scobie in his latest book about the Royal Family. Known as Endgame he in part looks at Prince Harry and Meghan’s interaction with senior royals in the final days before the Queen’s death.

The book quotes an alleged former palace aid who said senior royals “didn’t want Meghan there” when it came time to make the journey up to Scotland to join the Queen in her final moments.

Mr Scobie wrote that when Prince Harry eventually made it to Balmoral he was greeted “warmly” by Princess Anne and spent “a quiet moment privately paying his respects” to the late Queen.

Speaking to People, Mr Scobie added: “In the eyes of some within the institution, Harry is a threat to the crown. His freedom to exert his own thinking outside of the confines of the institution has made him the enemy.”
