King Charles “will not give” Princess Kate advice on being a future Queen for one particular reason, according to a royal expert.
The Princess of Wales is believed to have formed an even closer bond with the King due to their shared cancer battle.
Both Charles and Kate were diagnosed with cancer last year and underwent treatment for it.
Royal author Christopher Andersen said the princess had always been “tough-minded, a realist” which are traits that haven’t gone unnoticed by the monarch.
He told Fox News: “Because of their shared cancer battle, Kate and the King have strengthened their bond in ways neither could have imagined.
“King Charles was so impressed with her grace and grit that he bestowed a singular honour on Kate, making her a Royal Companion of Honour, an unmistakable sign of his faith in her ability to help carry the monarchy forward.”
But he added that the monarch is unlikely to give her any advice on being Queen as it would imply that he might be around for much longer – something he has no plans of doing.
He explained: “The King is not about to be giving Kate advice about being a future Queen.
“That would simply give oxygen to the notion that he might not be around much longer, and Charles III intends to stay put on the throne for years to come.”
Meanwhile, royal broadcaster and commentator Helena Chard told the outlet that Kate’s biggest advice on the British throne would have come from the late Queen Elizabeth.
She said: “[Kate had]years in training [as a future Queen], learning and inhaling invaluable advice [from the late Queen].
It comes as the Princess of Wales made her first solo appearance on Tuesday when she visited the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, where she had her cancer treatment.
It is understood the visit was an opportunity for the princess to personally thank the staff for their care, support and compassion over what has been a challenging year following her diagnosis.
A Kensington Palace spokesman said: “The Princess wanted to make the journey to both show her gratitude to the incredible team but also highlight the world-leading care and treatment the Marsden provides.”
