The Queen posed for a series of iconic portraits taken by the famed photographer Cecil Beaton at Buckingham Palace on this day in 1968, 55 years ago, an unreleased shot of which was shared by the Royal Family to mark the first Anniversary of her passing last month.

The Queen wore the Vladimir Tiara, the Duchess of Gloucester’s Pendant Earrings, and Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee Necklace, Queen Victoria’s Diamond Bracelet and the Order of the Garter.

For some more portraits, the Queen wore the Cambridge Pearl Brooch.
